The RESCU Foundation is a non-profit organization established to promote and maintain the health and medical well-being of the participants of Renaissance Faires, historical performances and other artistic events through financial assistance, advocacy, education and preventative programs. |
|
|
RESCU offers its assistance to ANY PARTICIPANT of a Renaissance Festival, past or present, anywhere in the country. To receive medical assistance, one must be a Renaissance Festival worker (crafter, entertainer, gamer, employee, or any other participant). If you have or had a participant pass from a festival you could be eligible. If you have retired from festivals you could be eligible. We will do the utmost to serve this entire community with medical assistance. |
-
To create a unified, caring community that can rally and support each individual in times of health and illness.
-
To offer support and training through our growing Advocacy Program.
-
To educate the community about current health issues by providing training, workshops and classes like first aid and CPR.
-
To establish a doctors network and RN program to help alleviate the burden of medical care on the road.

RESCU was named in 2000 to stand for Renaissance Entertainers Services Crafters United. The pursuit of charity status was completed in 2003 and the RESCU Foundation emerged in the spring of 2004 with a plan, a dream, and the endless energy of veteran participants of festivals. Currently our Board of Directors seats 11 members, which include actors, artisans, service workers and festival patrons dedicated to medical health. The RESCU Foundation, Inc. serves an average of 100 clients a year both with negotiating bills and financial assistance, with some cases classified as ongoing. The number of clients assisted has hit the 500 mark, which includes simple medical problems to long term cases. Moreover, RESCU has disbursed over $350,000 worth of medical aid, and in the last 2 years, our Advocacy Program has negotiated over $1.2 million off of medical bills for our community. |
